About the photographer

I was 8 years old the first time I was able to have a real camera in my hands.  My parents gave me an old Kodak camera which utilized the old cube flashes.  I became fascinated with photography from that day forward and I have thousands of images along the way in life to show my journey into the wonderful world of creative photography.

I pursued a variety of photography courses at the local community college which gave me the privilege of learning from some wonderful instructors.  From these classes, I learned a great deal in the way of artistic and creative compositions as well as how to bring a black and white roll of film from a blank roll to a finished image in the dark room.  I have worked with a variety of equipment including view cameras, medium formats, fully manual 35mm and these days I primarily use a digital SLR.  I didn't just pick up a digital camera and begin taking photos, as I travelled a long journey of learning the ins and outs of a fully manual film camera for many years prior to going digital.  I place a great deal of value on the opportunities I had to work with a fully manual film camera and learning about various aspects of black and white and color processing.

Aside from enjoying people and pet photography, I also have a passion for the artistic.  I greatly enjoy visiting National Parks and am pleased to say there are a few I have had the privilege to visit already.  I am a big fan of Ansel Adams and Yosemite was by far my favorite National Park.  I truly enjoyed seeing in real life some of the places where Ansel created some of his most beautiful work.

When I am not behind the camera, I also enjoy travel, camping and trips to the beach with my husband, our two boys and our dogs.  I am also deeply involved in training our Border Collies in a variety of areas, such as obedience, rally obedience, agility and sheep herding.  Training for herding is by far my favorite.  Border Collies are hard-wired to herd and there is nothing like seeing the true natural instincts and talents this breed possesses.

As your photographer, I want nothing more than to create beautiful images for your family to cherish and enjoy for a life time.
